November, 9th, 2014 was the centenary of the glorious battle.

In Australia the main project  to commemorate the crews of the two ships HMAS SYDNEY and SMS EMDEN in an appropriate way with dignity was the

 Commemorative Services both land and sea at Cocos (Keeling) Island

The Emden Family had been permanently involved in the planning stage of both projects.

9 members of the Emden Family  attended the Commemorative services at Cocos (Keeling) Island

A Commemorative Service took place in "Christus- und Garnisonkirche" in Wilhelmshaven, Germany
